Re: Choosing a Z77 Motherboard

Damn stupid flipkart people. They kept the 412 slim box on mobo box and packed it darn tight . Opened the mobo box today just to notice that the Mobo is bent permanently. Wonder when they will hire educated people to pack stuff!!!

Just inserted the CPU and stock HSF and 1 stick RAM. System reboots as soon as it sees grafix. For example it boots from windows DVD, but when win logo shows up(before the setup screen) it reboots. What a pain to debug.

Tested RAM and its fine. UEFI bios is fine. Dunno if the old 500 GB HDD supports AHCI or not, or the PSU is failing. PHEW!!! What a day!

Oh BTW tested the GPU on old system. Got a nice piece. Works flawlessly.

---------- Post added at 04:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 PM ----------

Just checked with a DMM and the power on(green wire) is just 2.9 V. Oh man the warranty died 10 days back Let me put the back up PSU and try.

EDIT: Sry its the +5V standby thats 2.9V . power on is at 5.1V. Let me check the power good.

---------- Post added at 04:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:30 PM ----------

Again mistake. All voltages are fine except power on! Power on green at 2.9V Time to try backup.

Re: Choosing a Z77 Motherboard

Bend will be fine once you install. Not a big deal, but they should have packed things properly. Also it could be the IDE / ahci issue. Change the hdd to IDE mode and try.

Re: Choosing a Z77 Motherboard

I told u that board was too flexible before u bought it. My maximus is rock solid in terms of pcb quality. Hell, this board weights more than my 670's. Will post pics tomorrow

Re: Choosing a Z77 Motherboard

I tried many things but nothing worked. However if I install the GPU then everything works. The bend is severe near on board DVI connector. Dunno if that is the problem. Anyways more worse than that is that I tried the online bios update utility from EUFI. It downloaded some stuff and half way during install the PC rebooted No idea why! So much for the crashless bios. Iam trying to put bios files into USB pen drive and see if it will automatically reflash. Looks like even thats going south!

Bro as you can see, how they kept stuff inside that was slightly higher than the box and on top of that bubble wrap and taped tightly. God knows what other items were stacked on this entire box. Forget ASUS formula. Anything will bend in that condition.

If nothing works, thats the next step. However this may happen in the future, so why not learn now itself
