I think he is planning to hook it onto my comp as an amp or something.

Now my Question is
Will the Zero Dac Provide bettter sound? If i couple it up with a good Speaker sytem(i dunno any)
What he is crazy about is the surround sound the 2 speakers give.

i have the one below version of this ( without the amp/player), just two speakers and a sub, and its got normal RCA input, comes with a universal remote, i think its cinemate 2.1 or something. Dude the sound is worth it, but do tell him, that the surround effect really sounds good only on the demo DVD that you will get with it, anything else and you have to be a serious audiophile to really distinguish how the rear fill is being created by these speakers. Also placement plays a very important role for these speakers to really bring out the surround.

I would go for building a component HT over that any day.

Although Bose does have a reputation for having very competent Out-of-the-box products.

You should/might have added for complete non-audiophiles.

For the price of this set, you can easily custom build a HT setup which will be cheaper and equal/better sounding this one.

Oh btw visit the showroom in Malviya Nagar, dont remember the name right now. They deal with brands like Denon, Dali etc...

Dude. it depends on how much time and money you're willing to invest in the whole gig. The Zero is a headphone amp/pre amp.

From the fact that you're buying 70K Bose speakers I am hazarding a guess that money isn't so much of an issue as time. A better (but more time-consuming) route would be to do something along the lines of:

Digital out -> Amp/recvr -> full range floorstanders/bookshelves + Sub (if you need/want one)

^^Well, depending on the components you choose, it can go from ASTRONOMICAL costs (and output to match) or a fair bit cheaper, with equally good sound. As a point of comparison, those Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 2.0s sound better or equal to my Bose SoundDock, which cost about double of the speakers. Sometimes, if you're not careful, you might end up paying for a brand instead of a product.

I had read about an Indian Brand called 'Cadence' based in Pune that had really superior audio systems. You might want to check that out too.

hehehehehe, chaos would never ever suggest BOSE....but yeah he will give u the name of the component you would need to get for a HT setup....also have you only heard of zero dac?? lol, coz its not to drive speakers......

And even if that IS the only one you've heard of at least research it porperly -- you would've known it's just a headphone amp.
