Re: BURNT PCB on Seagate 500gigs...replaceble?

Find out if Seagate can replace the PCB without wiping the data ( express this point to them multiple times so those guys can understand ).

Else, you can try this.

How did you manage to fry your PCB? There is power switching everyday for me at 3 and 6pm and I haven't fried a drive yet. Same thing happened when there would be power cuts in Navi Mumbai. And I don't use a UPS. Just a heavy duty surge protector.

well...apparently the hot swap bay in HAF X is poorly made(the capacitors are not enough)...and they popped and took out my drive.....

Ah. That blows. Put it into a review or something so the same thing doesn't happen to other users.

Is this an issue a lot people have faced? Else it could be a random issue.
Also how did you come to the conclusion that the capacitors are not enough (just curious)

Re: BURNT PCB on Seagate 500gigs...replaceble?

well....the capacitors audibly popped when i turn on the PC.....the PSU was an TX 650v2....and it wasnt loaded to capacity...hence the only logical conclusion could be that the capacitors weren't up-to the mark....maybe low rated or low wattege...thats for th guys back @ CM to find out...all i know is i lost a whole lot of data.......

also 100 microfarads capacitors seems a little low for that circuit.....

Re: BURNT PCB on Seagate 500gigs...replaceble?

I had the pcb replaced on an old IDE drive sometime back and it's working fine, no issues. I hope this pcb on the haf x is not an issue....
