Budget PC for Sound Recording and Editing

I need help in buying/building a new PC. My budget and requirements are as follows:
  • Budget: Less than 35k
  • Existing hardware setup: NA
  • Components from the existing setup that you intend to keep: NA
  • Intended use of the PC [gaming/office use/rendering/HD playback etc] : Sound recording and editing
  • Monitor resolution and size: LCD 22"
  • Will you be overclocking your setup?: No
  • Which OS will you use?: Windows 7

My point of concerns are; firstly that would any motherboard and CPU configuration would be fine or should I go for additional sound card. And secondly, is a high-end setup really needed for sound editing? I have a small studio and so my budget is also limited to max Rs. 35k, below that will be well and good so that I could invest on other necessary items in studio.

Re: Budget PC for Sound Recording and Editing

1. Not any CPU+mobo will do. You'll need a multi core CPU for editing (something from the FX series), as editing greatly enhances from multi cores.

2. A soundcard is recommended for sound editing.

These are my suggestions:

FX6300= 7k

Asus M5A78L-M LX V2= 2.7k

GSkill RipjawsX 4GB 1600mhz= 2k

HDD: WDC Caviar Blue 500gb= 3k

Cabby: CM Elite 310= 1.6k

GPU: Sapphire HD7770 1GB DDR5= 8k

PSU: Corsair CX430V2= 2.5k

Monitor: BenQ G2222HDL 21.5" FHD= 7.4k

Asus 24x DVD RW= 1k

TOTAL= 35.2k

Re: Budget PC for Sound Recording and Editing

Though I am not expert, but am not sure with realandR3cys statement that multi-core CPU will be needed for sound editing. For video editing kind of intensive work I assume multi-cores clubbed with a GPU will deliver great performance, but does sound editing work will be that much resource intensive? If it is, then the specs suggested by realandR3cys is a good fit along with a sound card like Delta or Audiophile will form a good PC for sound editing work.

Depends upon your work, but you wouldn't need 6 cores definitely

Sound editing and recording, shouldn't be resource hungry i presume. Unless you are doing video editing, then multi-cores and GPU can play a major role in performance boost. You'll have to go for a sound card, look at MAudio Delta cards on eBay or other sites.

I suggest go for AMD setup and you can opt for following:
AMD 3.8 GHz FX 4130 @ 6290
Biostar A85W @ 7500
Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6670 1GB DDR5 @ 5900
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2x 4 GB @ 4500
Cooler Master Thunder 450W @ 2700
500GB WD HDD @ 3000
Cabinet - Cooler Master Elite 310 @ 1800
Total 31690
Additional 12k would be needed for MAudio Delta professional sound card.

Oh! As your budget was 35k, the saved money can be invested into sound card or even other peripherals like keyboard, speakers etc. Cheers!!

I would go with Intel
i3 3220 - 7k
B75 mobo - 4k
RAM 2x4gb - 3.5k
Corsair VS450 (single rail) - 2.3k OR CX 430 V2 - 2.5k
WD 500gb - 3k
Coolermaster CMP 250 - 2k
Monitor - 6k
Sound card - 7k
Total - 35k

What do you think @Ankur Jain
