Re: A Beginner's Guide to Touch Typing

Great point about SMS lingo. I hate it when people type in SMS language even when they have a full blown QWERTY keyboard at their disposal.

Re: A Beginner's Guide to Touch Typing

nice article. I have learnt typing using a typewriter, so I pretty much touch type and most people who have worked on those feaking TW know that u learn it hard way. but i seriously make mistake of not using my small finger of right hand, i dont find it comforable anymore(yes computers have spoilt me).
OTOH, coding(as in programming requires no mastery over typing whatsoever), one cannot code as fast as one can type, since coding requires a lot of thinking, so for everything else to be fast, like ze bakarchozee(not everything else other than programming is bakarchozee, ROFL) u need lightening speed. And for impressing chics(yes chics do hangout around typing geeks, NAWT)

Re: A Beginner's Guide to Touch Typing

Lol typing fast is hardly for impressing chicks. Its for productivity. And the thinking part of coding lies in drawing the outline of the program. The actual coding doesn't take time once you have the design down. Those are qualities of a good programmer. For the rest, quit thinking so much, hell is not going to freeze over for you.

Re: A Beginner's Guide to Touch Typing

lol, try using "ls -ltr" fast, you will see yourself swarmed by hot blonde supermodelish chics. Even if you have full length design available, still to write code thinking is involved(at least for C and asm, can't comment on other languages though). And for thinking part, its a defect of profession. :shrugs:

We are in India. Chicks are impressed by Windows 7, not KDE4.

Here, OSX looks awesome to them, Win7 looks bland. The looks of the MacBooks dont help either. The flashy lights on my laptop does help me though.

Re: A Beginner's Guide to Touch Typing

LOL, I wasn't even talking about X. Just open a terminal over the old console, green letters on black screen going at random pace(think matrix, LOL) is what chics are looking for. X is for bois, real men ssh from their 486 to a headless server at at unknown location in siberia(it needs cooling since its such a fast machine)
