Re: Automatic Shutdown

could be due to several reasons, among them some usual ones r:
a) defective ram
b)physical errors on HDD, check for errors/defrag if necessary
c)PSU issues, mostly not enough juice to power all the components
d)heat build up for/cpu/gpu due to dirt the clogging the fans
e)gpu/cpu fans gone kaput.

Re: Automatic Shutdown

too many possible reasons for this. You will have to provide more details:
1. When does the PC shutdown, before login, after login
2. What happens in Safe Mode ?
3. Any hardware configuration change done in the last month or any new drivers uploaded.
4. What is your system config.

Re: Automatic Shutdown

after 3 minutes upto 5 minutes computer never restarts, Usual suspect is SMPS, it never restarts, it shuts with a black screen without any windows shutdown message. Mostly as i am being told by my friend is failed SMPS. Running On Windows XP, no virus found i think all new anti virus has been updated to search blaster worm. I beleive its mostly hardware faliure but wanted to know if any Particular hardware thing shuts computer down withgout any message especially i was also in BIOS when computer shutdown.

Re: Automatic Shutdown

I had a similar problem a while back. At the end it was my PSU.
But as other mentioned, it can be lots of things!

Need more details, specially your temps!

on e of my fren had same issue.... try checking RAM, SMPS ,POWER fluctuations @ your place, if nothing works then do what i did... the restart/power button connection was not connected correctly on the motherboard... the assemblers usually mess this up.. remove the restart jumper thats connected on mobo..and restart, anyways we hardly use restart button on the cabinet rite.. worth a try..
