ATI working on a DirectX 11 card

|

After the success of its RV770 and refreshed DirectX 10.1 cards ATI wants to continue its winning streak with a DirectX 11 card.

We still don’t know the codename but let's assume that next generation performance / mainstream chip is codenamed RV870. This chip will likely have DirectX 11 support at least this is what our sources believe at this time.

There is an important indication that RV870 might launch before DirectX 11 becomes available but this can only be good thing for ATI but if we were betting people we would suggest that such a chip should be available a year from now, at late Q2 or early Q3 2008.

Re: ATI working on a DirectX 11 card

why cant everyone just concentrate on making good games instead of making so many cards all the time ... our cards get obsolete without any game existing to make them obsolete....

I mean .. we "feel" our hardware is obsolete as new one has come out .. whereas we dont even get to utilize the potential of our existing hardware as there is nothing there to utilize it ...

Re: ATI working on a DirectX 11 card

I would say still 8800GT with DX 10 is a gr8 vfm. There is absolutely no need for DX 11 rite now. How many games released yet supports even DX 10.1??
ATI is rushing things. You can get the new card but you have to get hold of DX 11 supporting games first. That will be more tough rather than getting a new card
