I can get you a brand new x370 taichi at a mad price. PM if you'd like one =)
I also got 4000 mHz ram working on my x370 titanium, so the chipset is good to support fast ram. Admittedly, on the third gen processors. The whole 370->570 leaves little to desire barring a stop gap pcie revision and a stupid fan on the chipset, along with higher prices.

14k is mad for the mobo
FYI running 3800 MHz ram at Cl16 with 1:1 memclk:fclk
Buildzoid still uses this board as his daily driver. You can look it up

According to him Bios of asrock x370 was really bad & ram overclocking got bad with updates. AND I'm also not sure how this board will get bios update for ryzen 3rd gen, Otherwise I know VRM is pretty much same as X470 taichi & With some other Diffrences like little larger heat sink on vrm,SSD heat sink & Store EMI Support etc.

Re: Asrock X470 Taichi or MSI B450 Carbon AC

RAM/IMC capability - it's T topology so it doesn't suffer when all four slots are populated.
Hmm. I'm running 3800 MHz RAM on it at CL16 with 3800 IMC. Mem tested both HCI pro and P95 for 48 hours.
'Better RAM support' is just marketing speak for better launch AGESA for the 400 series boards.
3200+ was unheard of on this board until 2nd gen ryzen.
On 3rd Gen with this board, what if I tell you I managed 4000 MHz CL18, but with a 2000 MHz IMC (cause well my IMC can't sustain 4000 without losing core OC headroom)? Sadly, I struggle without geardown mode and true 1T so CL17 is not possible.
My last board was an x370 titanium with daily chain topology and the ram support was pretty much the same.
There was literally no reason to go from x370 to x470 except for the fact that AMD, in a pursuit to get better RAM performance, forced daily chain topology on everyone, and with newer launch AGESA, things were just ~ 200MHz extra on the x470. Back in the day. No longer. the 3rd gen IMC is so strong, the CPU IMC:Memclock 1:1 desired ratio (which is lost at 3600+ but can be forced till about 3800 without much tweaking) makes one aim for 3800 MHz and no higher.

BIOS updates
I'm on P5.67
I've used... P5.50, 5.60, 5.61,5.62,5.64,5.67
Please go over to overclock.net. The x370 taichi is one of the most active threads there. Asrock puts all beta bioses there.
My RAM OC has been rock solid since 5.62 FYI.

Other boards have been struggling ever since
MSI isn't in the habit of releasing beta BIOSes on forums. Asus does. But then a crosshair 6... people are struggling to manage 3600+ on it.

Among other thoughts:
1. He's still on that board. It nullifies whatever issues or complaints he had about ryzen 1 and the kaccha AGESA at that time. People are running Hynix and Micron on it at 3600+ with ease. B die has solid competition. Which is why it's now been phased out.
2. I sold the titanium for this board. Go figure
3. I'm not buying a pcie 4.0 board. It's unwise at this point. Hot chip. Expensive boards? Needless IO. I mean, I get 3.5 GB/s off my nvme drive. I don't need more. Won't, for ages to come. At which point Intel will have pcie 5.0 and GPUs may even actually use it. PCIE 4.0 nvme is the ONLY use case for x570 right now.

AAANNDD I just checked my subscriptions. BIOS 5.80 with AGESA 1.0.03ABA is out!
People note seamless XMP config and better out of box performance.

EDIT: two more responses:
1. Store MI is for SSD-less bots or those with entry level CACHE SSDs (hopefully with DRAM else they'll wear out like sand...)
2. Please use aftermarket NVME heatsinks. They throttle in 3-4 seconds otherwise. The thing, at that point, they've already vomited ~ 12-15GB which is a TON of data. I use an aluminium one on my WD Black and copper on my 970 Evo. From aliexpress, they're for 200-300 depending on what you buy. The thin tin sheets just act as a heat accumulator - without increased surface area they can only add inertia (by a few milliseconds) to peak saturation. If anything, the controller needs cooling, the actual storage chips like heat - so a thin sheet is really counterproductive.
3. MSI has failed to deliver RAID support on their older 16MB BIOSES. This board has it.
ObjecTVT likes this.
