The investment will be huge.

Leave the franchise part, if you want to start it in a prime location where you can get the 'classy' gamers who are willing to pay for full day bindass... the cost will be astronomical. Unless you know someone.

The pathetic piece of crap that we have today, called Zapak needs a wake up call and this is it.

India hardly anyone can afford gaming hardware and LAN is like the ultimate place to hang out after bunking college at 10 in morning and going back after a hard days work at 4. India is the best location when it comes to gaming cafes but the costs of setting up are also screwed up.

^^But then, that is there for most businesses in prime locations.

As a market, gaming in India is immature, which is good from a business point of view.

Also, if set up right keeping in mind the tendencies of Indian audiences, one can make enough moolha like Zapak has made. This(Alienware) would be in competition with Blur, but then again, both of these have still been one store wonders, with this yet to kick off.

A wake-up call? Nah. Mr. Anil would not be bothered as long as it's business is generating enough for it to keep going. They presently have the advantage of being the first ones to get into the organized business in this sector. As and when the market matures, they will have to buck up.

+1

Investing in sense? If you are planning to run the cafe if that is what you mean by investing, cost effective wow effect for anyone and everyone who visits. Obviously better equipped than any other cafe, luring ppl with attractive opening offers will be a good start. You know our crowd. They will give in if they see what they want is available. Profit will be a long term process on how successful you market the cafe amongst the available inexpensive gaming options for mumbaikars. Forget about the competitors but remember their pros n cons. If you are going to locate a site, buy and build it with help of funding from AW, setup the cafe and then run it(looking at more than a crore atleast), You will have your hands full without a proper team. Hire the best in biz and take de pro route. It is all teamwork, customer service and teamwork which matters. For obvious reasons, it is best to visit the B'lore cafe once they are up and check whats hot.
Good Luck dude.

Re: Alienware Setting Up Their First Ever Gaming Cafe in Bangalore

^^We did that by visiting Blur an year and a half back. The owner himself said they are charging a pittance for they offer. So yes, the ROI is long term, in any which case. This is definitely a deterrent for any one entering a gaming market the type in which it exists in India. But then, markets are always small when they are new...
