50k Upgrade Cum Scratch Build

I need help in buying/building a new PC. My budget and requirements are as follows:
  • Budget:
50-60k
  • Existing hardware setup:
c2d 6600
intel 945gcnl
monitor-- 15' crt lg 700e
psu--corsair hx650
gpu-- sapphire hd5670
mouse & kb--- logitech
hdd--- 160gb seagate barracuda +500gb seagate external
dvd writer-- lg
  • Components from the existing setup that you intend to keep:
corasir hx650
mouse, keyboard
gpu
hdd
dvd writer
  • Components that you have in mind for your new PC:
i5 3570k/i72600k/3700k(i will manage with a used one if going for i7)
mobo: any thing cheap, will upgrade it later on
ram: ripjaws 8gb single stick
cabinet: CM STORM TROOPER :D (yea i'm, gone mad)
monitor: dell 2311h/2312hm/2412(for 24', will search for a used one with warranty)
speakers: dont know anything about them, but will good ones later on
  • Plans to upgrade in the future:
mobo, mouse, kb, speakers, GPU
  • Places from where you will buy components along with your location:
indore, online, mumbai lamington road can also buy from NP delhi but that is if i get exceptionally low price there
  • Are you comfortable with buying secondhand components from the Erodov market? :
yes, i prefer secondhand, off course with warranty
  • Intended use of the PC [gaming/office use/rendering/HD playback etc] :
hd playback, gaming, and
  • Brand preferences:
dell for monitor, may consider other if giving better performance
cooler master for cabby

  • Monitor resolution and size:
23' or greater. resolution 1920x1080
  • Will you be overclocking your setup?:
probably yes, but due to my current system i dont know anything about OCing.. :(
  • Which OS will you use?:
win 7 64bit

so basically, i want suggestions for cabinet, monitor and processor... and on later upgrades..
in my budget i am keeping 15k for each three of them, will squeeze other thing to just make a working computer and upgrade them later...

MOST IMPORTANT:
do you think i'm insane buying this setup for such low budget and planning for upgrades later on? should i settle on something cheaper?

> getting a cheap motherboard with an i5 xxxxk or an i7 xxxxx is waste, you will atleast need a motherboard with Z77 chipset.

>Spending 10k on cabinet in a budget of 60k is crazy (which you already mentioned :D )

> getting an i5 xxxxk of i7 and using HD5670 will cause a (huge?) bottleneck IMO.

My suggestion:

CPU: i5 3570k (14000)
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 (9900)
GPU: Sapphire HD7950 vapour X (21000)
Monitor: DellAlienware OptX AW2210 (12000) (available at mdcomputers)
RAM: G.Skill RiojawsX 8 GB 1600 MHz (3000)

OPTINAL: WD blue 2 TB hdd (5800)

total: 59990 (without HDD)

Option 2:

CPU: i5 3570k (14000)
Motherboard: Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G43 (9200)
GPU: Sapphire HD7870 2 GB (17000)
Monitor: DellAlienware OptX AW2210 (12000) (available at mdcomputers)
RAM: G.Skill RiojawsX 8 GB 1600 MHz (3000)

total: 55200

Re: 50k Upgrade Cum Scratch Build

actually for nw i have 55k(if i squeeze my pocket can make it 60k) as my budget, in a couple of months i will accumulate nearly 20k... and then i will try to a good mobo. so wanna buy i cheap mobo as for now.

then for next upgrade i will go for a good GPU, right now i will buy a used 560ti/570. i'm getting a gtx 470 locally for 7k(brand new, used for 2 hrs in an exhibition), should i take it for now?

as for cabinet, i simply cant let storm trooper/stryker go off my mind. can you? :D:p

with monitor, you have given me yet another option, but is it better than dell u2312hm?

the reason i am trying to buy high end config part by part is that my family wont let me buy a new system for 6-7 years now... my current config is 10 years older... :(hope u get my problem... also i'm trying to get my hands on used stuff with warranty to make this a sensible config. :D;)

Re: 50k Upgrade Cum Scratch Build

well here are some options
based on Prime ABGB prices
you could find cheaper if you looked around

Core i5 3570 k +AsRock Z77 Ext4 + GSkill 8gb =27700

Buy ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Intel Core i5-3570K Gskil 8Gb Ram in Mumbai India

Monitor Dell U2412m Approx 17k

that makes Approx 45k

that leaves you with 10 k for cabinet and speakers

not suggesting GPU/PSU/HDD as in your post you said you are keepin existing

it is totally ur decision. but y buying a temporary one, if u r buying a good one in near future??
1) The cheap one will not have any good features.
2) Trouble reselling the used item
3) Loss/ Waste of money.
4) Go Green - Y create more waste :P

I think Flipkart and eBAY give EMI.
If u r buying from shop, u can use credit card, and ask for EMI.
If shop don't provide EMI, U can call credit card dept and convert the amount into EMI with extra charges, and pay it in 3months.(check for processing charge and interest).

Re: 50k Upgrade Cum Scratch Build

First of all I should tell you that HD5670 will be a bottleneck to your new config so you have to change your GPU as well. By the way VFM config for you would be AMD Rig(My Choice):

Intel Config
Core i5 3570k -14000,
Asrock Z77 Extreme4 -10500.

Total -24500

AMD Config
AMD FX 8350 -11400,
Asus M5A97 Evo R2.0 -7100.

Total -18500

Rest of the Config
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600 MHz -3000,
CM Storm Trooper -11000,
Dell S2340L 23" LED IPS -11500,
Sapphire HD7870 2GB Vapor-X -16500,
Logitech Z313 2.1 Speakers -1650.

Total -43650.

1. About the Cabinet - Stryker/Trooper ....well, well, well. [I could'nt resist it. There are still folks who drop in at my place, who seriously thing that the Stryker (White) that I have is a
- Water Cooler
- Radiator
- Portable AC
- Dishwasher ........GRRRRRRR....... anthing else, BUT A COMPUTER. SO BE WARNED :)

2. The Dell U2312HM is a great monitor

3. You could go for used stuff, but as others have mentioned - besides some of these things being a bottleneck, you end up spending money anyways (which you will find hard to sell later). Rather check out any Z77 used stuff or i7 too (maybe) or else the i5 is also a great unit.

Cheers
Terry

1: i am stuck between stryker and storm trooper, i love white but does it look dirty after a while? also what color led fans do look good on it? red or white?

2: about monitor, i'm getting it locally for 15600, should i go for it? smc quoted it 14700+shipping to indore. and same for the primeabgb.

3: actually sir i was planning to buy a 3-4k mobo for now, i wont mind selling it for 2k later on... i just dont have enough money right now. i will take the right mobo in few weeks. i'm planning to spend 20k for mobo+proccey, so i guess 15-16k for proc, 3-4 k for mobo and later on i will buy a good mobo for ~20k...

15k--monitor(dell u2312hm)
12k--- cabinet(storm trooper/stryker)
20k--- proc+mobo(i5 3570k/i72600k + something(what about some Z68??))
3k--- ram(ripjaws 8 gb single stick)
total--- 50k

right now i have 10k more to spend
will search for a GPU in it

things left--- mobo, kb, mouse, speakers
mobo next month and rest everything after that.

also i am trying my best to get hands on used stuff, so that i can fit a good GPU...

any suggestions or changes?

thanx alot everyone for the replies :)

Yes, proceed like this. If you are gonna save 20k for mobo, getting a 3-4mobo for now would be a wise option

No need to go beyond i5 3570k. It is more than enough.
So you got 5-6k for a mobo. Now get a B75 mobo in that budget upgrade later to a kick-ass z77 !

thanx hitesh :) will definitely go for i5, but if i can get my hands on a used 2600k in the same price range... i will go for it... but firstly i need a monitor (using CRT for now :( )
