Re: 1440p Monitor??

I recently got the Benq BL2710PT for ~45k. Its a 27" 1440p flicker-free backlight (no PWM) display with an AHVA panel (Advance Hyper- Viewing angle which is an evolution of IPS and has nothing to do with Vertical Alignment panel).

BenQ BL2710PT Review

According to my research, this is the best 27" 1440p IPS-based display (for Gaming and entertainment) we can get in India. I had the Dell U2410 for 4 yrs, before I upgraded to this.

Re: 1440p Monitor??

Thanks mate for the info.
I was planning on getting the Korean monitors through eBay..
They Cost around 24k shipped with a Samsung PLS panel. But I'm not sure about the custom charges.

Btw where did you buy the monitor from.

Re: 1440p Monitor??

I was considering a Korean display as well.. but there are risks and warranty is an issue.

2 of my friends got a Korean display and both ve a stuck/dead pixel. I heard about a few other similar stories. And in case of an issue, U ve to bare the shipping (one way) which is almost 8k for a monitor that size. Besides, they charge customs (3k to 12k, depending upon the agent), even for RMA'd monitors in India, unless U can prove it to them that U ve distribution rights to the particular brand.

I know all the above come in worse case scenarios but the stuck pixel issue is pretty common (unless the seller's giving U a 0 dead pixel warranty, which are more expensive .. +$600). I wasn't comfy with the risks involved and wanted the peace of mind of local purchase.

Besides, I know the local distributors and was confident about their support in case of any issue.

I got it straight thru the local distri. If U don't ve Benq distri branch in ur city, U can call primeABGB and they can arrange it for U. May involve shipping costs (not sure).

Also, not all Korean monitors ve all the default ports or USB hubs. My Benq has all that I needed plus a 4-port USB 3.0 hub. And performance wise, the cheap 1s don't compare to the Benq. With the diff variants of IPS, backlight bleed & flickering was a big issue. Its not noticeable in 22~24" displays but at 27" and a res of 2.5k, its rather irritating. This Benq has a flicker free (no PWM) panel and backlight bleed is is very limited. In my research, very few Korean display (expensive 1s .. ~$700) could come close in performance. In the end, getting the Benq was just more sensible

Lemme tag @sjaveri & @saifbukhari here

Re: 1440p Monitor??

Yea thanks for your Help..
Importing Korean monitors does look like a headache.

Anyway i settled for this Samsung 4k Monitor for 41k with 1ms GTG response time.
It has pretty good reviews.

Re: 1440p Monitor??

Evern I got a GTX 770 .. looking to either SLI or just go for the 970

@nathan I haven't had enuff time to finish Wolfenstein on it.. hell, haven't even had time installed COD:AW or Assassin’s Creed Unity yet. So damn busy with rl. Finding time to click pics and upload seems improbable

Thou the gameplay @ 1440p with ASUS DCII GTX770 has been pretty good as long as I don't enable SMAA and other such ultra high stuff. Thou current games need more VRAM and I feel the 2GB GDDR5 is just not enuff. So, most likely, I'll go for a GTX970 than add another 770.. lets see how it goes.

Re: 1440p Monitor??

I ve BF3 (purchased) installed and still not finished single player campaign .. so, didn't even bother getting the *ahem* ver of BF4. I mean, I'd love to finish BF3 and then get the BF4 but dunno if I'll find the time to.

When we are kidz, we got all the time to play games but not enuff $$ to enjoy em on good hardware. When we are grown ups, we ve all the $$ for good hardware but no damn time to enjoy it.

This sucks

Re: 1440p Monitor??

I got the Achieva Shimian 27" 1440p monitor from Korea, and aside from 1 small teeeny weeny dead pixel that is almost not noticable even when you know where to look for it, its absolutely fantastic. Great VFM, at 24k~, and is a no brainer imho unless you are very very picky on dead pixels being absolutely a no. At that resolution and screen size, you will not even notice the dead pixel at all, so i dont think its an issue especially when you are saving approx 15k or so.

More like 20K.. my Benq costs ~45k.. but thats coz I got it directly thru the distri. When I had called prime, they quoted 49K for the same...!

I'm partial towards perfection and that's the reason I tagged sjaveri and saif.. they are more practical. U need both type of options to come to a proper decision.

From Korea, friend picked it up for me. Even if you have to import and take a hit on customs its well worth it as you are still saving atleast 15k, probably 20k like hawk mentioned. Not only that, some of them can do 120hz @1440p with an IPS screen, which no other branded big name monitors are able to achieve yet. This alone is possibly worth a $1000 price tag if it comes flawless, but because it usually has a minor defect you get the benefit of a greatly reduced price. You could always get unlucky and get a bad piece, but if you go by the ebay feedback of these sellers, the chances are very very very low.

Just go for it, you will not regret it!
